Leave Your Car At Home and Exercise on the Way To Work

There are many ways to leave your car at home and use your morning commute to burn some extra calories. One way is to take the city bus or subway to work. Don't just choose the closest bus stop to your house, however. Find one that's at least a 15 minute stroll away from home and make the walk to and from the stop. You get a good walk out of the deal plus two workouts a day! Are you already leaving the car at home because you carpool? You can always ask them to drop you off 15 or 20 minutes away from your home and get your exercise that way - all at once at the end of the day.

Another way to save on gas and enhance your diet is to leave your car a little farther from work. If walking all the way to work is not an option, start by parking next door and eventually work your way a few lots away. Enjoy the fresh air and the workout at once. Find the prospect of walking to work intimidating? Grab yourself a pair of headphones and some music. With some upbeat tunes, you'll be distracted from the exercise; you'll be jamming out and at work in no time.

Altering your morning routine in these ways will add time to your commute, so be sure to calculate that in. Just remember that waking up a little bit earlier is worth how great you'll feel when you start reaching your fitness goals.

I've found that making extra time in the morning to work out is the only time that will fit my schedule. It also really starts my day off on a positive note.
