Popular Biking Trails in Daytona and Ormond BeachOver the coast of northeast Florida, extends a stretch of highway known as A1A, This highway is located on a barrier island and, right around the Daytona and Ormond Beach areas, offers possibly the best and most scenic biking trails in the entire state of Florida. From this strip of highway, you can see the Florida coast in a way that it is rarely seen. You can view the dunes of the ocean and an ecosystem independent of the mainland and unique to the barrier island. Cycling is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to increase your activity after weight loss surgery. In Ormond, just north of Daytona, you can also enjoy A1A. Or, if you would prefer, you can try out the Flagler Loop, which is a trail that loops around Flagler Beach and Elinor Village, making a large circle around Tomoka Marsh State Aquatic Preserve. The loop does bring you onto A1A for a short time. While the weather may be cooler in North Florida than it is in South Florida, you still need to take the appropriate precautions before you begin biking. Make sure your primary care physician deems you healthy enough to take on a bicycle ride in the heat. Make sure you drink plenty of water during your ride and you wear sunscreen. |
