Popular Nature Trails in Daytona and Ormond Beach

Enjoying the Florida outdoors is a great way to enhance your weight loss and improve your health after weight loss surgery. Florida is home to many Indian reservations, burial mounds and tributes. This can make walking nature trails in Florida even more educational and mysterious. Especially when these nature trails include tributes to Indian chiefs who have never existed.

Chief Tomokie Nature Trail: The Chief Tomokie Nature Trail is a state park with a 40 foot statue of an Indian Chief who is not, and was not, a real person. What is real, however, is the lush and shady nature trail in the park. Go explore the park yourself and learn more about the man who is both a myth and a legend.

Tomoka State Park: Named after a real Indian tribe that resided there, Tomoka State Park in Daytona boasts over 160 different species of birds. Their nature trail is short--measuring just over one half of a mile, but with all the birds you will be watching, it could still take awhile to finish.

Tuscawilla Park: Located near the Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Tuscawilla Park has nature trails and a golf course. The nature trails are chock full of interesting plant life and beautiful wildlife.

Before visiting any of the above parks, be sure to dress appropriately and safely. Bring water with you on any trip to a nature trail and make sure you have a cell phone handy.
